Just a quickie done to get back into the mood of doing something. I'm having one of those horrid idle days where I don't want to do anything, but I don't want to not want to do anything, so I have to force myself to do something.

My little tribute to the "Just say no" group thingy. Very random, its 1:00 AM, and I'm seeing stuff like the backround, NOT FUN!! Though it looks all pretty, it ain't fun kids, just say NO!! There are more Drug overdoses than car crashes!!(Suposedly) I want to help in any possible way a 14 year old can!

Practice with drawing value and form when pressure sensitivity is not an option for creating value. Approached as a traditional-media pen drawing. I didn't use a reference, so this person doesn't exist. I just thought about what I know and am learning about the shape of the human face from the clay busts we are working on in one of my art classes. Problems out the wazoo, I'm sure. Overall, I'm quite happy with this. From the animation you can see that I played around with the bg before I gave up on color and went with simple shading.
I despise using cross-hatching when it comes to pencils, but yet I love doing pen drawings where cross-hatching is really the only option for creating value gradient. Ironic.

it all started with some doodling, then I remembered my art teacher once saying that color in the background of a grayscale drawing looks really interesting. So I tried it the opposite. That led to playing around with the airbrush, then I started liking it. And, voila!
